Concept

Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, the project will retain the visual integrity of the existing historic building in its podium levels, while integrating a 58 storey rental residential tower above. The project’s Rooftop Amenity, levels 57 and 58 brings all the components of fitness, wellness, creativity and inspiration together in a “collision zone” that we think will be unique in Canada and something that we can build upon. Toronto House is an important component to our practice’s expansion in Toronto and the surrounding neighbourhood will be an area of future concentration for us. This project is our way of supporting the spirit of innovation and creativity that is essential to our growing creative economy class. The workspace component of Toronto House is home to Thomson Reuter’s new Global Innovation Hub, as they make a significant commitment to Toronto and Canada. The project also contributes 464 high quality rental homes in the heart of Downtown Toronto — North America’s fastest growing city.

What we hope to achieve is a project that will bring vibrancy and creativity to an already rich and diverse community, by providing new workspace and homes for the next generation of industries, thought-leaders, innovators, creators and disruptors, that will shape our cities.

Toronto House is a long-term investment in the health and growth of King-Spadina and the City of Toronto — an emerging global city in which we see a bright future. We see this as an opportunity to help create a built-environment in which beauty, in all forms and in the broadest definition, can thrive.
